Fort Adams was host to a full day of rugby played on the Parade Field inside the walls of the historic Fort Adams. it was a fantastic day for rugby, the sun came out and yielded temperatures in the low to mid 60's with a light to moderate intermittent breeze. This made for perfect conditions for players and spectators.
The day started out with an exhibition of youth rugby from Island Rugby. It was great to see the future members of Newport Rugby honing their skills. Special thanks to Island Rugby for coming out and getting involved. If you, your family or friends are interested in giving rugby a go Island Rugby is accepting new players, boys and girls ages 7-18. The Fort was Defended Island Youth Rugby was impressive! Newport College All-Stars won! Typical tough match with Providence. First game issues, timing, too much offloading in contact, penalties. 7-3 Halftime, opportunities were wasted! 4 tries in 20 minutes sealed it. 8 tries by 7 players Return of Jimmy King and Duran Vota. Great energy by the Finishers. 1st matches by Simon, Ben, Jerome, Eric and welcome back Ryan Ellis!
Great atmosphere, club support continues to get better and better!
